jewellery care

This care guide will help you maintain your jewellery to ensure its longevity.

Gold-plated jewellery requires extra care so we encourage you to follow these simple instructions to get the most out of your gold-plated pieces.

  • Remove your jewellery when exercising, washing your hands, showering, swimming or doing anything that involves moisture. Contact with liquid may cause oxidisation or discolouration. In other words, when there’s liquid there should be no wear.
  • Keep away from perfume, cosmetics, body- and hair spray.
  • Store your jewellery in a secure pouch, box or air-tight container out of direct sunlight and away from heat, we suggest that you store your jewelleries inside the Bytega jewellery bag.

Our jewellery are either made of sterling Silver 925, Brass, Stainless steel or Solid gold. All our jewelleries are gold plated with either 18Karat or 24Karat gold. Gold plating is a method of depositing a thin layer of gold onto the surface of another metal, this makes gold plated jewellery extra fragile to water, wear and tear and hard surfaces.

TIPS: If irritation occurs due to an allergic reaction try to apply a thin coat of clear nail polish over your jewellery. The nail polish will act as a barrier between your skin and the jewellery and voilà, problem solved.
